Supreme Court of India holidays 2026

Pundora · Published 30 September 2026 · Updated 3 October 2026

Every closed day of 2026 for the Supreme Court of India, from the court's own calendar, with its source and a file for your phone.

This is the 2026 holiday calendar of the Supreme Court of India, transcribed from the court's own published calendar (linked under Sources, with the date it was read). It lists 18 closed days and 5 vacation periods; the court does not sit on Saturdays. Sundays are not listed. A matter in Pundora that sits in this court follows this calendar automatically: the deadline arithmetic, the evening digest and the holiday notice all read it.

Add it to your phone. Download the calendar file (.ics) and open it; every closed day appears in your own calendar app, with the court's notification as its source. Forward the file to the chamber. Dates are as the court printed them; a court may notify a change during the year, and this page carries the date it was last checked.

What the court's own calendar says

The Supreme Court's CALENDAR 2026 (By Order, S.C. Munghate, Secretary General). Note 4: partial Court working days 1 June to 12 July — recorded as a vacation; the Registry works through it. Note 6: the Registry is closed 25 December to 1 January. Id-ul-Fitr, Bakrid, Muharram and Milad-un-Nabi are subject to the moon.

Which courts follow this calendar

The Supreme Court of India. District courts follow their state's High Court unless the High Court publishes a separate district list; where it does, that list is a separate page here. If your matter's court is not on this list, see the index for what is loaded and what is not.

Questions advocates ask

Do the courts in the Supreme Court of India calendar sit on Saturdays?

The court does not sit on Saturdays. Sundays are always closed.

Do district courts follow the same holidays as the High Court?

Only where the High Court has not published a separate list for the district judiciary. Where it has, Pundora keeps the district list as its own calendar, because a holiday in the High Court is not always a holiday in a district court and the other way round.

What does "vacation" mean in this table?

A run of days on which the court's regular benches do not sit. Vacation benches may hear urgent matters, and the Registry may work; a deadline that falls in a vacation is governed by the court's own rules and the Limitation Act, not by this table.

How does Pundora use this calendar?

A matter carries its court's calendar. The deadline arithmetic skips closed days where the rule allows it, the previous-evening WhatsApp digest says when tomorrow is a court holiday, and the Deadlines tab shows which calendar the matter is reading and lets the advocate change it.
